Don Bosco Network has a new President

A series of meetings to do with cooperation took place from 3 to 5 April at Sanlucar Retreat House. The main one was the 6th General Assembly of the Federation of Salesian NGOs for Development, aka “Don Bosco Network” (DBN). Ms Joanna Stozek was elected president.

Today we celebrate International Volunteer Day! Volunteers work with us in every part of the world. They support organizations in the local offices, implement development projects in the field and are the ambassadors of Don Bosco everywhere they go. We appreciate your devotion every day! More than 7 thousand people fleeing war are sheltered in the center of Don Bosco Ngangi of Goma. The Salesians of Don Bosco and volunteers if VIS have opened the doors to the displaced but the situation is still dramatic.

World Mission Day - 21 Oct. 2012

This year we celebrate in the Church the World Mission Day on Sunday 21st of October! The theme announced by the Pope Benedict XVI is "Called to radiate the World of truth". The Pope reminded the world of Blessed John Paul II: ""We cannot be content when we consider the millions of our brothers and sisters, who like us have been redeemed by the blood of Christ, but who live in ignorance of the love of God ".

European Development Days 2012 online

This year European Development Days took place in Brussels, Belgium 16-17 October. The dates coincided with the World Food Day and the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, so the topics of debates and conferences circulated around the food security, engaging of the privat sector for development and inclusive growth.

Don Bosco Network represents Salesians on EXPO 2015!

On October 11, 2012, Joanna Stozek - vice president of Don Bosco Network signed an agreement for the participation of the Salesians in Expo 2015, the great universal exhibition to be held in Milan from the 1st of May to 31st October, 2015.

News from Haiti after Isaac Cyclone

The volunteers of VIS report from Haiti after passing the Cyclon Isaac. "The cyclon has passed. We are all fine. We heve been staying at home from Friday afternoon will Sunday. From Friday the wind was very strong and heavy rain pouring during the day cousing the flooding of roads. On Sunday the situation was better. The airport has been reopened and life has slowly started getting back to normal.
