Assistance to the Elderly and Sick in Rukago Parish
The project set out to improve the livelihoods of the elderly and sick population in Burundi through parish outreach in Rukago Parish, Mbirizi, Businde, Maramvya, Kiyange, and Kinyonga. The Rukago Parish successfully delivered 9kg of rice and blankets to 384 elderly and sick people. The rice enables the people to provide food for themselves, while the blankets add a layer of comfort and protection. The Parish also distributed 200 hoes to elderly and sick people in the communities so beneficiaries can farm individual produce. These interventions reduce the beneficiaries’ financial dependency on others. Additionally, the project distributed 200 insurance cards to the same people to allow them to access health services.
