This project allows the Salesian congregation in Paraguay to purchase, ship, and distribute 1,500 Spanish Bibles for 1st and 2nd grade students in the Salesians’ fifteen schools and institutes throughout the region. The Salesians approach education via the “preventive system” which was laid out by their founder, Don Bosco. This system addresses the education and evangelization of the youth with the purpose of orienting them to become “good Christians and honest citizens.” Therefore, the Salesians work to create an atmosphere that is educationally and pastorally rich, imbued with Christian joy and nourished by the presence of the Word of God and the Eucharist. Acquiring the Bibles helps the communities experience and contribute to this atmosphere.
