fot 1January 28th 2016 Human Rights Based Approach training took place in Rome at Pisana. Representatives of Don Bosco Network, who hosted the event, development organizations: SWM from Poland,Jovenes y Desarrollo from Spain, VIA Don Bosco from Belgium, BREADSfrom India, Don Bosco Mission – Mission Procure from Bonn and Salesian Networks: Don Bosco Youth Net, Don Bosco Internationaltook a closer look at the possibilities of advocacy work on international, national and local levels.

Barbara Terenzi, VIS expert on Advocacy and Human Rights, shared VIS experience of the organization granted with the ECOSOC status and their ongoing work in the area of advocacy. She provided participants with some ground knowledge of how the international institutions involved in the advocacy process operate, where are the entry points for non governmental organizations and how to use information from the field to make an intervention that matters.

Fr Tom Brennan, representing Salesians at the UN shared his approach to advocacy on behalf of the whole congregation and presented some examples of interventions and events undertaken at the UN level.
