Mission Statement
Don Bosco Network is a worldwide federation of Salesian development NGOs, created in 2004 and formally registered in 2010 in Italy, committed to help poor and marginalized children and youth become the protagonists of their own development and that of their society.
We create awareness for human dignity and human rights following the integral educational pedagogy of Don Bosco.
Our Mission
We believe in grassroots work on the local level as well as in exchange of information and good practices on global scale therefore we support capacity building of Planning and Development Offices in more than 50 developing countries.
We foster international development cooperation to bring consolation and practical, coordinated help in case of global emergencies.
Dialogue and advocacy are tools to liberate people and therefore promote social change. We create awareness for human dignity and human rights following the integral educational pedagogy and preventive system of Don Bosco.
Our Vision
Our vision is to empower youth and families to become the protagonists of their own development and that of their society. To do so, DBN and its members focus their action on education according to the principles of Don Bosco:
- Education is based on the preventive system;
- Education is a fundamental human right that is not limited to the intellectual development and professional qualification of children and young people: it enhances the development of the individual as a whole;
- youth are the protagonists of their personal development through education;
- education is oriented towards social transformation as it enhances the people’s ability to dialogue, seek and promote social justice
Our Values
We promote fundamental values of social justice, fraternity and solidarity with the most vulnerable people, especially youth, in the world.
DBN and its members translate into their action the values expressed by the Salesian tradition of solidarity with the poor by resolutely:
- adhering to the preferential option for the neediest youth;
- advocating for social justice, without getting involved in ideologies and party politics
- promoting a culture of solidarity;
- educating to moral awareness, active citizenship, respect for the environment;
- proposing initiatives and projects for development and education to development
