Both Don Bosco Network and its members intend to give voice to the most vulnerable people, including children and youth and their communities by:
Raising awareness on needed government reforms, including services & protection
Conducting campaigns with coalitions & civil society
Modelling solutions as a trusted governmental partner
Advocacy is a process for supporting and enabling people to express their views and concerns, access information and services. As well it promotes and protects their rights and responsibilities, have their voice heard on issues important to them, especially when decisions are made about their lives.
Why do the advocacy?
We want to advocate by changing the causes underlying the problem and not only mitigating the consequences of discriminatory policies.
Don Bosco International
DBI represents Salesians of Don Bosco is a meaningful presence in EU institutions and EU platforms, ensuring a communication channel between Don Bosco projects and policies dealing with education, culture and youth that are promoted by the EU institutions. DBI is a platform that human rights and dignity of every person, holistic personal development, solidarity and subsidiarity, cultural diversity and intercultural learning and fight against poverty through social inclusion
Don Bosco at United Nations
In our quest to ensure that the wellbeing of the world’s poorest and neediest children is a top priority among global leaders, the Salesians are actively engaged at the United Nations. Our presence along with other humanitarian organizations influences policies and initiatives aimed at eliminating poverty and creating a society of equal opportunity. One of our main objectives at the United Nations is to provide a voice for the young – to guarantee that their needs and concerns are taken into consideration, particularly in deliberations that have a direct impact on their lives.
